The Decision to Use Medication
We believe that when a patient's symptoms are in the moderate to severe range, psychotherapy and holistic treatments alone may not be enough.
Oftentimes, for the proper treatment of many mental health conditions, a combination of holistic/alternative, psychotherapy, and medication is the best treatment option.
We are happy to discuss with you all of the treatment options that may be available to you. If medication management of your symptoms is needed, we would like to consult with your medical doctor or psychiatrist to make sure we are coordinating your care effectively.
If you are a new patient and are already using prescription medication for mental health care, we would like to coordinate your care with your other providers. The standards of care for providers in the mental health field strongly suggest that all care providers involved in a patient's care consult and be mutually involved in care.
Ultimately, the decision to use prescription medication is always yours. We are happy to discuss pros and cons of medication usage with you and will take into consideration your family history of mental health problems, your history of symptoms and treatment, and your current life situation.
